Marjorie and I shared wonderful lunches once or twice a month and we went all over the place, We laughed and had a great time. Shortly after she moved to the Gardens, she called me for our regular lunch date, { we took turns, one time she would call and the next time I would call} and asked if we could go out to the Chickenburger. She indicated she had not been there in many years. Always mindful of her dietary restrictions, when I picked her up I had printed off a copy of the menu. Doesn’t matter she says, that is where we are going. So, a beautiful summer day we head out to “The Chick”. When we get there, she knew what she wanted, I got her seated at one of the tables and I went to order and pick up our food. We had a lot of fun eating and laughing.
There happened to be, in the dining area, a number of motorcycle people, all their bikes parked in front of the restaurant. As they were leaving, Marjorie caught the eye of one woman who had magnificent tatoos, and motioned for the woman to come over. Interestingly enough, the woman came over and Marjorie asked her if she would mind if Marjorie looked at her tatoos close up. The woman happily obliged, showing Marjorie all her “ink”, and a part of her body was designed to be a tropical fish tank which captivated Marjorie. Marjorie was so interested, looking and touching and asking questions. The woman was just fabulous, giving Marjorie her attention, quietly explaining some pictures and symbols of loved ones, life circumstances that led to various symbols and their meanings, it was so purely Marjorie. She had bonded with this woman, someone she had never met. We spent easily 20 minutes chatting with this woman and Marjorie was so charming and caring, when the woman was leaving she asked if she could give Marjorie a hug. Marjorie happily obliged. When we left the Dining Room, all the bikers called good bye to her and she waved and laughed…it was a perfect Marjorie Lindsay moment!!!
