My parents bought their first house, a very small two-story house on Doug Smith Drive in the new Westmount subdivision after my first sister appeared. John and Marjorie Lindsay were our next door neighbours. Winters were cold and long and some some of the other fathers flooded their yards. Another called someone at the fire department and and the next night a pumper showed up and four or five contiguous yards were a picture of happy kids.
